Skardu Road Trip From Lahore and surrounding areas

A road trip to Skardu can be an exciting and adventurous journey, allowing you to enjoy the stunning landscapes and scenic beauty of the region.

Most road trips to Skardu begin from Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan or Lahore and its surrounding areas.

There are two main routes to reach Skardu by road:

  1. Via Karakoram Highway (KKH): This is the most common and popular route. From Islamabad, you will travel on the Karakoram Highway (N-35) towards Gilgit. The journey takes approximately 10-12 hours, depending on the road conditions and traffic. From Gilgit, you will continue on the Skardu Road (N-15) to reach Skardu, which takes an additional 6-8 hours.
  2. Via Babusar Pass: This route is longer but offers stunning views and is ideal for those who want to explore more of the scenic beauty along the way. From Islamabad, you will drive towards Naran via the Mansehra-Naran Road (N-15). From Naran, you will continue towards Babusar Pass, which is open from June to October (depending on weather conditions). The Karakoram Highway is generally well-maintained, but there can be occasional landslides or construction work along the way. The road from Gilgit to Skardu is narrower and winding, so caution is required.
